Epilation and Epilators

Who needs epilation? As humans we all have body hair, some more than others. Few people are satisfied with their quality and coverage of hair. Men often suffer hair loss in areas they would rather not, like the head and go bald some at a very early age and wish they had more. Women on the other hand don’t usually enjoy hirsutism or excess hair especially when legs and arms are often exposed for comfort during the hot summer weather. Epilation is one remedy for removing unwanted hair and an epilator is the purpose built device most commonly used for epilation.

Epilation removes hair at the root. So too does plucking with tweezers or waxing. As you can imagine tugging on hair to dislodge from the root is not exactly painless but epilators have evolved and are now precision made to remove hair quickly efficiently and comfortably. Regular epilator users do so because the convenience of epilation to remove unwanted hair far outweighs any mild discomfort during the process.

Does epilation with epilators provide permanent hair removal? No but hair reduction is achieved over time. Depending on the quality of the epilator and how coarse your hair is the interval between treatments may be anything from weekly to 4 weeks apart. Even at the worst case scenario this is a huge improvement on the frequency of shaving necessary to achieve the same results. With epilators the re-growth of hair is thinner providing benefits for long term use.

Compared to waxing as a means of hair removal epilators are a cost effective and simpler alternative. Epilators are generally used at home at your convenience. For those who don’t mind the bother of appointments etc for salon waxing using epilators might not be high priority but for those with better things to do with their time it is definitely worth considering.

Modern epilators are small devices that fit into the palm of the hand. Electric versions like Braun epilators can be corded and used plugged into a standard electrical outlet or rechargeable and cordless. The rechargeable aspect is not always an asset especially if the battery charge runs out before your hairy legs are smooth. Wet and dry epilators can be used in the shower where the running water provides added comfort during hair removal but there are claims that the dry epilator does a better job than when used wet.

Epilators for facial hair removal is also gaining popularity. For women menopause brings many changes amongst which an increase in facial hair is not uncommon. An imbalance of hormones and polycystic ovary syndrome can also result in excess facial hair in females. Emjoy epilators are effective even for upper lip hair removal.
